The International Anglican Women’s Network (IAWN) held a consultation for the Network’s Provincial Links in the Anglican and United Churches in South Asia and a number of other women in the region with ministries among, and for women and girls.

In October 2015, the International Anglican Women’s Network (IAWN) held a consultation in Hyderabad, India, for the Network’s Provincial Links in the Anglican and United Churches in Sri Lanka, North India, South India and Bangladesh, and a number of other women in the region with ministries among, and for women and girls. We were sad that our sisters from the Church of Pakistan and the Anglican Church of Myanmar were unable to be with us because of visa difficulties.

The International Anglican Women’s Network (IAWN) has sought over the year to bring voice, encouragement and support to the many contributions made around the Anglican Communion to end and prevent gender-based violence and other injustices borne by women as a result of gender inequality

On my recent visit to India I met with Professor Valson Thampu, president of St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, which had hosted the 1997 Indian Triennial. In fact Valson was the chaplain then and was responsible for planning the speakers

The Family - A Reconciling Community (August 2015) continues IAFN’s exploration of the theological basis for the concept of ‘family’ and celebrates the potential of Christ’s reconciling love lived out in family and community settings. It shows how practical expressions of this theology can help to strengthen partnerships between family members and encourage reconciliation where relationships have been broken by stigma, substance abuse, clashes of culture or teenage rebellion.

By way of a report to the Standing Committee, AIN has submitted a communiqué from their April 2015 triennial conference which they have asked to be forwarded to ACC-16.

The focus of this year's 59th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW59) was a 20-year anniversary review of the landmark Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, unanimously adopted by 189 countries at the 1995 Fourth World Conference on Women as an agenda for women’s empowerment and a global policy document on gender equality.
