ACC-17 took place in Hong Kong, China, between 28 April and 5 May 2019. The theme was "Equipping God's People - Going Deeper in Intentional Discipleship". More than 110 ACC members plus guests from around the world took part in the plenary, which was held at the Gold Coast Hotel, about 45 minutes from central Hong Kong.
The programme included daily Bible studies; reports and briefings and services at St John's Cathedral. There was a presidential address by the Archbishop of Canterbury and a report from the Secretary General of the Anglican Communion.
ACC members visited local parishes to see churches and their social ministry work.
ACC-17 was shorter than previous meetings, lasting just eight days, with formal opening and closing services on the first and last Sundays. The theme, "Equipping God's People - Going Deeper in Intentional Discipleship", builds on the Season of Intentional Discipleship which was launched at ACC-16 in 2016.
The programme was busy: there were four working sessions most days and also opportunities for ACC members to see Hong Kong and experience the work of the church there first-hand.
Each day began with Morning Prayer followed by Bible Studies in small groups. After morning sessions there will be a daily Eucharist with leadership and content to reflect the richness and diversity of the Communion. Afternoon sessions concluded with Evening Prayer. Most evenings included an opportunity to experience Compline towards the end of the day.
