This document is an agreed statement by the Anglican–Oriental Orthodox International Commission (AOOIC) on the inheritance of Ecumenical Councils in the Church. It explores the conciliar nature of the Church, defines the Ecumenical Councils, and discusses the first three Ecumenical Councils, as well as the Council of Chalcedon. The statement aims to contribute to the ongoing dialogue and understanding between Anglicans and Oriental Orthodox regarding authority in the Church.
