This document is a report by the Anglican/Roman Catholic Joint Preparatory Commission, presenting a fresh appraisal of issues related to authority in the Church. It follows up on a previous statement, addressing unresolved problems such as the interpretation of Petrine texts, the concept of divine right, papal infallibility, and the jurisdiction of the bishop of Rome.
The Anglican Communion Office (ACO) is the official secretariat of the Anglican Communion – a worldwide network of Anglican churches, in over 165 countries. The ACO connects member churches, encourages global mission, fosters Christian unity, promotes ecumenism and amplifies Anglican advocacy.
The ACO also supports and facilitates the ‘Instruments of Communion’: The Anglican Consultative Council, The Lambeth Conference, the Primates’ Meeting and the Archbishop of Canterbury.
