The Season of Creation is an annual global celebration that unites Christians of all traditions in prayer, reflection, and action for the protection of God’s creation. It runs from 1 September (World Day of Prayer for Creation) to 4 October (Feast of St Francis of Assisi).

During this season, churches, communities, and individuals are invited to explore the wonder of God’s creation and respond to the ecological challenges facing the planet.

The Communion Forest is an exciting new initiative of the Anglican Communion to significantly increase the number of Anglican tree growing and ecosystem conservation, protection and restoration activities around the world and to deepen care for creation within the life of the Church and its members.

It is a practical, spiritual and symbolic response to the environmental crisis, and an act of Christian hope for the well-being of humanity and all God’s creation.

The Lambeth Call on the Environment and Sustainable Development was shared by the bishops of the Lambeth Conference in 2022.

It outlines some bold commitments in tackling environmental crises, including just financing, community resilience building, advocacy, biodiversity restoration and promoting the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Find out how you can add your voice to the call.

At the Lambeth Conference, bishops and church leaders from across the globe shared powerful stories of responding to the call to care for creation—restoring forests, planting trees, protecting biodiversity, engaging in interfaith climate action, and working towards net zero. From cyclone relief in Mozambique to prairie grass conservation in Kansas, the message was clear: the Church is acting, but every diocese must make creation care a priority.

The Anglican Indigenous Network and Anglican Communion Environmental Network prepared a series of four weekly webinars, bringing perspectives from Indigenous communities across the Communion on the planetary environmental emergency. Contributions came  from Aotearoa and Polynesia, Amazonia, Africa) and the Arctic .

Described as “a lament in the present and a vision for living well”, the series of 45 minute videos look at both the current reality facing communities and draw on Indigenous wisdom for shaping a prophetic vision of a better future.

In light of our climate and ecological emergency, impactful sermons can mobilise action and to offer space for lament and hope in our churches and communities.

This resource seeks to help clergy, lay preachers and all Christians explore the set lectionary readings for each week from the perspective of creation care and ecological justice.

You can find them on this link www.preachingforgodsworld.org or sign up to have them delivered directly into your email box.
