Resolution 104 - Baptism and Confirmation

Resolution 104

Baptism and Confirmation

While deprecating the hasty adoption of any policy which would lead to the widespread exclusion of infants from baptism, the Conference affirms that the service of Infant Baptism presupposes that the infant will be brought up in the faith and practice of the Church, and reminds parents and guardians that they cannot be exempted from a major share in the responsibility for the Christian nurture and education of their children, and it therefore urges the clergy to put them in mind of this duty before there children are baptized and at other times as opportunity may be made.
