Church Response to Domestic Abuse

Published to help mark the 16 Days of Activism against Violence against Women, the IAFN newsletter on the theme of Church Responses to Domestic Abuse shows both the scope and international extent of such abuse within families and the growing efforts now being made by churches and faith organisations to combat it.

Instead of dismissing physical violence and coercive control as a "private matter" or part of a culture, work is being done on the causes of such violence.

The 13th Session of the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues will be held at the United
Nations Headquarters in New York from May 12th-23rd, 2014. The special theme is “Principles of good governance consistent with the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous  Peoples: articles3 to 6 and 46 (3)”.

Women’s Voices at AACC Assembly

The 10th General Assembly of the All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC) coincided with the celebration of its golden jubilee in the town it was born -Kampala, Uganda.

The Anglican-Oriental Orthodox International Commission has held its second meeting 3-7 October 2013 at St Columba's House, Woking, England.

The International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples is a yearly event to help promote and endorse the rights enshrined in the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of
Indigenous Peoples.

A meeting of the International Anglican Liturgical Consultation (IALC) was held in Dublin from 28th July to 3rd August 2013.

The fifty-seventh session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women was devoted to “ending violence against women.”
