Statement to the 50th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council

May 2022:

The 50th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council took place in May 2022. The ACC submitted this written statements to the Council on the adverse impact of climate change on the full and effective enjoyment of human rights by people in vulnerable situations, and best practices and lessons learned in the promotion and protection of the rights of people in vulnerable situations.

 

Report on the 65th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women

 

 

March 2022:

Eight Anglican women were nominated by their provinces and selected by the Anglican Consultative Council to represent the Communion and engage with the themes of CSW65, in particular, women's full and effective participation and decision-making in public life, as well as the elimination of violence, for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls.

COP26 Policy Brief: Climate Resilience and Just Financing

 

 

October 2021:

This policy brief addresses climate resilience and just financing as two interconnected policy priorities and areas in which the Member Churches of the Anglican Communion have specific expertise and concerns. The brief has been drafted under the auspices of the Anglican Consultative Council’s COP26 Working Group in preparation for the 2021 UNFCCC COP26 and presents specific policy recommendations for governments, multilateral organisations, financial institutions, private sector, and civil society, including faith actors.

Statement to the 66th Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women

October 2021:

The 66th Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women takes place in March 2022. The ACC has submitted a written statement on achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls in the context of climate change.

 

Statements to the 48th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council

September 2021:

The 48th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council takes place in September 2021. The ACC submitted two written statements to the Council – one on peace and reconciliation in Sri Lanka and one on the rights of indigenous peoples in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

Statements to the 2021 High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development

July 2021: 

The 2021 session of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development will meet in July to review progress on the SDGs. The ACC submitted two statements to the forum, one individual statement and a joint statement with ecumenical partners.

The Anglican Communion Office at the United Nations is delighted to share a report of our delegation's attendance at the 63rd UNCSW, held in New York in March 2019. The report is a snapshot of Anglican engagement at the 63rd Session of the UNCSW, including reflections from the delegates themselves and examples of the various opportunities they had to share their own experiences throughout the two weeks, with support from the ACOUN staff.

In it, you will find testimonies from this year’s delegates, stories about how they advocated on topics of concern, and how they are taking their experiences at the UNCSW back to their home provinces.
