The Anglican Communion Office at the United Nations works across the United Nations (UN) system to bring Anglican expertise and perspectives to the global stage. The office plays a vital role in building strong relationships between the local and global level so that work at the grass roots of the Anglican Communion is more joined up with global initiatives such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

All of this work supports the goal of more effective engagement with the United Nations’ Agenda 2030, the commitment endorsed by all UN Member States to eradicate poverty and achieve sustainable development by 2030 world-wide, ensuring that no one is left behind. The Anglican Communion is accredited with the United Nations, which means it has access to many UN gatherings, and is able to make written and oral statements at these meetings. We are one of a number of faith-based organisations which have maintained a strong presence at the UN. In recent years delegations of Anglicans and Episcopalians have participated in high-level events, for example, the UN Commission on the Status of Women.
We want more Anglicans to get involved. The Anglican Communion Office at the UN wants to increase Anglican engagement at these events because they are an opportunity to share Anglican expertise and experience.
