The Inter Anglican Standing Commission on Ecumenical Relations was established by the Anglican Consultative Council in response to a request from the bishops gathered at the Lambeth Conference in 1998.
It worked until 2008. Its purpose was to monitor the progress of ecumenical affairs in the Anglican Communion, and to offer such support and advice as was requested by provinces in their ecumenical affairs. Its two chief concerns were to encourage "best practice" in the ecumenical initiatives undertaken within provinces, and to ensure that in bilateral dialogues with other partners there was consistency between the Agreed Statements developed. The Commission meet annually, under the chairmanship of the Archbishop of the West Indies, the Most Revd Drexel Gomez. The work of the Commission was gathered into the book 'The Vision Before Us', published in 2009.
