[L'Eglise Episcopal au Rwanda - Rwanda] Pastor Rick Warren, the renowned leader of Saddleback Church in southern California, touched down at Kanombe Airport on January 17 aboard his private jet, in the company of American businessmen, health experts, peace scientists and politicians.

Addressing over 30 religious leaders gathered at St. Ethienne Hall, Rick told the clergy to feel proud of their nation since Rwanda was known as the country where Christian revival mission started. He noted that history recorded that God’s spirit worked through the Rwandans at Gahini in 1935 and then spread to the rest of the world.

He advised the clergy to have a good vision for the nation for the sake of development.

“To tell you the truth I love Rwanda with all my heart, and at times I feel sad when I remember that the world never intervened to save this country from the 1994 mayhem,” he said, adding that his church was going help Rwanda attain holistic development.

“I want Rwanda to become a model of peace and development on this globe and thereafter other countries will come to borrow a leaf,” Rick told the audience.

He wooed prominent businessmen from the US to travel with him with the purpose of investing in Rwanda. His 60-man delegation is in the country for a week.
