Church Appoints New Provincial Secretary

[L'Eglise Episcopal au Rwanda - Rwanda] The Executive Council of the Anglican Church of Rwanda has elected Emmanuel Gatera, a senior professor at Mukono Christian University in Uganda, to the post of Provincial Secretary charged to man activities aimed at developing the church and the nation.

Pastor Gatera, 47 years of age, has vast experience as a social scientist and a religious expert. He is a senior lecturer at the university and holds a Master’s Degree in theology. Other qualifications in different educational qualify him as an administrator.

He was voted overwhelmingly by the Executive Council in an extraordinary meeting chaired by Archbishop Emmanuel Kolini.

Pastor Gatera has vowed to inculcate a culture of peace and holistic development in the Rwandan society for the benefit of the church and the nation after the 1994 Genocide, which left the church and the nation in ruins.
