[L'Eglise Episcopal au Rwanda - Rwanda] Today the National Council For Controlling HIV-AIDs held an extraordinary conference on paediatric treatment, care and support of children infected and affected by HIV-AIDs.

The two-day conference was officially opened by the President of the National Council for Controlling HIV-AIDS (CNLS), Rev. Nathan Gasatura, at Kigali International Conference Centre on the 13th of June. In his message to the audience, the pastor urged Rwandans to work hard in order to care for the children who are the heart of the country.

Present in the conference were government ministers, diplomats, religious leaders and representatives of civil society. According to reliable sources, the Rwandan youth is strongly hit by the virus. Rwanda's rural prevalence rate is 4.2%, while in urban areas it is 11.7% for the 15 to 49 age bracket.

The Episcopal Church of Rwanda, together with the Rwandan government, has been on the forefront in the fight against the scourge. Rev. Nathan belongs to the Episcopal Church of Rwanda.
