December 12, 2007

[L'Eglise Episcopal au Rwanda - Rwanda] In an extra-ordinary meeting at St Etienne Biryogo on 27 November 2007, the College of Bishops of Anglican Church of Rwanda came up with a resolution to change the name of the Province of the Episcopal Church of Rwanda to the Province of the Anglican Church of Rwanda. This resolution was unanimously approved by the Provincial Synod on 29 November 2007.

Henceforth the Province of the Episcopal Church of Rwanda is called the Province of the Anglican Church of Rwanda.

Further, the Synod affirmed that a magnificent Metropolitan Diocese would be constructed in the Capital City of Kigali for church development. There followed the amendment of the Provincial statute (Canons) for the sake of streamlining rules and regulations that govern the church.

The meeting further resolved that the Anglican theological College in Kabuga village become a full university with various academic faculties for effective education of Rwandans.

In his charge, the leader of the Anglican Church of Rwanda, Archbishop Emmanuel Kolini, hailed the work of Synod members and urged them to be active for the sake of streamlining the work of the church and the nation. He further advised the Synod to be a blessing to the church and the community, referring them to Genesis Chapter 12.

He said as a leader, he would help to attain holistic development in his three-year mandate.
