The Bible in five words

MELANESIAN MESSENGER 090419-2
April 19, 2009

[Melanesian Messenger - Melanesia]
The Anglican Church of Melanesia has re-launched the Evangelism and Renewal Programme this year with a new strategy of outreach.

More than seventy delegates gathered for the weeklong training that followed the re-launch held at Tulagi, the headquarters of the Diocese of central Solomons from April 14 to 19 2009.

A team of trainers from Australia was invited to help in the launching and facilitation of the training that centred on how to explain the main message of the bible simply and clearly.

Canon Jim Ramsay, Director of Evangelism in Sydney Diocese led the training and he was also the main speaker at a rally on the night of Saturday 18th April 2009.

The theme of the rally was based on the story of the Prodigal Son; a call to come back home.
Canon Ramsay explained simple ways to tell the great message of God. “While you can never do justice to the great themes of love and salvation, a short summary helps people understand and share that good news with their friends and family,” he said.

Bishop Charles Koete, acting Primate of the Anglican Church of Melanesia, at the opening of the conference encouraged delegates to fully support this initiative.

With such a great beginning the Evangelism and Renewal Office is hoping to run similar programs in all parts of the church of Melanesia in Solomon Islands and Vanuatu said the .
Great learning is to explain great things in the most simplest way.

So what are the five words? You’ll have to visit an Anglican church in your diocese near you and ask; ‘Please explain the bible to me simply’
