[Melanesian Messenger - Melanesia] The Archbishop-elect of the Anglican Church of Melanesia the Rt Rev David Vunagi called for support of all Church members as he prepares to take on the highest leadership role within the Church.

Speaking following his successful election yesterday he said "the journey ahead in leading the Church is not be easy but will need the support of everybody."

"I felt am carrying a heavy burden, but like anything else, the start will be tough but will get lighter as you go along."

He said he cannot carry out the task alone but need the clergy, laity and the Council of Bishops to support him undertake the important task.

He thanked the Diocese of Temotu where he served as Bishop in the last 8 years for their support towards his ministry.

"Without them I will not come this far and I will miss the clergy and people but my successor will continue from where I left."

Bishop David Vunagi is expected to return to Temotu this week to prepare for his farewell tour in the diocese.

The tour date is yet to be finalised.
