MELANESIAN MESSENGER 080327-3
March 27, 2008

[Melanesian Messenger - Melanesia] Bishop Patteson Theological College Kohimara has a new Principal.

He is the Reverend Ben Seka, 48, appointed early this year following the departure of former principal Fr. Philemon Akao who is now on an overseas study leave. Fr. Seka was a lecturer at Kohimarama at the time of his appointment.

He said he accepted the huge and important responsibilities of the important leadership position in the College. With new teaching staff members joining the team this year he believed in strengthening the college academically especially the degree programme that has now reached its third year for the first time since its introduction in 2006.

He said the College is an important learning institution as it determines the mind of the Church through those came through it; therefore a lot of work needs to be put into it.

Fr. Seka holds a Masters of Theology at the Melbourne College of Divinity in Australia. He studied there for two years from 2005 to 2006. From 2001 to 2004 he lectured Biblical studies and church history at BPTC. He did his Bachelors degree at the Pacific Theological College at Suva, Fiji from 1999 to 2001. Fr. Seka was ordained into priesthood in 1997 after graduating with a Diploma of Theology at BPTC in 1995.

He is from Vurenimala village on Small Ngella in the Central province. He is married to Margaret. They have 3 three children.
