New MBH Leadership Elected
October 29, 2007

[Melanesian Messenger - Melanesia] The Melanesian Brotherhood of the Church of Melanesia has elected its new leaders for the next for years.

Father of the Brotherhood and Archbishop of the Church of Melanesia, the Most Reverend Sir Ellison Pogo, announced the results following the elections on 27th October 2007.

Br. George Siosi from Santa Ana in the Solomon Islands was elected Head Brother, replacing Br. Calton Weris from Vanuatu. The new Assistant Head Brother is Br. Alick Palusi.

Three Brothers were also elected to head the three Brotherhood Regions as Regional Head Brothers. They are Br. Matthias Leeman for Solomon Islands, Br. Mathias Tovotasi for Papua New Guinea and Br. Wilford Tari for Southern Region of Vanuatu and Fiji.

The Head Brother and his Assistant were admitted to their new posts by the Archbishop straight after the elections on Saturday, while the Regional Head Brothers will be admitted at their respective regions. Other leaders within the Regions will be appointed later by their own Brothers.

The election was held at the Melanesian Brothers' Headquarters at Tabalia on west Guadalcanal in Solomon Islands at the completion of the 11th Great Conference of the Brotherhood and Companions. The tenure of leadership for the new brothers is four years.
