[Melanesian Messenger - Melanesia] Several distinguished ladies participated in celebrations organised by the Diocese of Central Melanesia in Honiara to mark Mary Sumner Day on 11th August 2007. They included Lady Alice Waena, the wife of the Governor General of Solomon Islands; Mrs Ethel Sigimanu, the Permanent Secretary of Women and Youth; Lady Roselyn Pogo, the wife of the COM Archbishop, and Mrs Ethel Suri, the President of COM Provincial Mothers' Union.

Mary Sumner, the founder of the Mothers' Union, is remembered annually in the Anglican Communion.
