Selwyn offers Computer and Agriculture Science this year
January 10, 2007

[Melanesian Messenger - Melanesia] A national secondary school of the Church of Melanesia in Solomon Islands, Selwyn College will be offering a rich diverse curriculum for the senior forms by introducing computer and agricultural science when classes resumes this year.

School Principal Mr. Thomas Rajan said the college currently have facilities for this but is inadequate for the introduction of Form 6 Agriculture Science.

Even though the school intends to start the programme this year for Form 7 because of the current pressure from them, the school introduced during the second semester of 2006 a university level computer course CSF21.

The college in early 2006 was very fortunate to be a recipient of 20 desktop computers donated from England which assist the college in the implementation of the computer classes.

With six additional desktop computers donated by the Republic of China on Taiwan in Honiara in November last year, it will increase the stations to cater for more students using the lab at any one time.

The project was also boosted with the support of the Church of Melanesia renovation fund that upgraded one of the college building to a computer laboratory.

Selwyn College is situated on West Guadalcanal.
