[Diocese of Mauritius - Indian Ocean] On Thursday last the Bishop of Mauritius, the Right Rev Ian Ernest, celebrated his 20 years of service for God. The celebration took place at the St James Cathedral in Port Louis. The ceremony, which was presided over by the Bishop himself, was attended by the Anglican clergy and his close collaborators.
Bishop Ian, who came to a personal encounter with God while he was still young, was ordained on 29 June 1985. Right Revd Ernest, who will be 51 in August, was installed as Bishop of Mauritius on 24 June 2001.
‘I would like to pay tribute to my parents, who gave me the taste of God while I was still a young boy and this has brought me to-day to love the Lord and serve Him and His church. I would also like to thank my wife and my son for their support to my ministry’ Bishop Ernest declared.
We extend our congratulations to Bishop Ian Ernest, his wife Kamla and his son Julian.
