The Young Adult Service Corps Program run by The Episcopal Church
JAPAN 130308-1
March 8, 2013

[The Nippon Sei Ko Kai - Japan] YASC is a program run by TEC to disperse young missionary to all parts of the world to serve and spread the gospel in a community where they are sent to.

NSKK has been receiving one or two YASC participants for last several years. This year a young couple has been sent to ARI( Asian Rural Institute). They shared reflection of their stay at ARI and work of YASC with parishioners at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Tokyo this past Sunday, March 3, for Lenten talk. They are Mr. Douglas Knight and Mrs. Jenny Knight from the diocese of Arkansas.

It was very moving and informative talk of learning about YASC program which, per Doug, is to bring two Anglican communities of diocese of Arkansas and Holy Trinity Church together. Their stay at ARI is also very learning experience for them because ARI is where agricultural leaders from many parts of Asian and African countries participate with different religious back ground to learn about self supporting and cyclical agricultural method and live together. For them I am sure it was their first experience to be very close to people with different religious back ground.

The Young Adult Service Corps brings young adults into the life of the worldwide Anglican Communion and into the daily work of a local community. At the same time, it brings the gifts and resources of the church into the lives of young adults as they explore their own faith journeys.
