§ Mrs. Claudette Kigeme and Mrs. Desiderata Niyiragira attended the 49th Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women held in New York. Among the many items considered was an evaluation of the implementation of the 1995 Beijing Platform.

§ The Mustard Seed Association that has been supporting the sons and daughters of pastors for the past two years was given national legal status by the Interior Ministry of the Government. At present, the Association has 39 members. Its aims are to provide fellowship and encouragement, and to give assistance as it is needed.

§ On 28th January 05 a new Bible school opened in Muramvya, Bujumbura diocese. 30 students are currently following a deacons’ course. Liebenzell Mission International in partnership with the diocese has funded the project.

§ Mushasha parish has been created in the town of Gitega to work specifically among the students and youth. Rev Eraste Bigirimana, the Diocesan Secretary, is its pastor.
