Murabacu Testing Centre Opens

[EAB Press - Burundi] On Saturday 1 December the President of Burundi, His Excellency Peter Nkurunziza, officially opened the National Council of Churches' (CNEB) centre for voluntary counselling and testing for HIV. The centre is supported by Christian Aid. Its name Murabacu literally means "You are ours", and reflects the desire to empathise with, care and love, those who visit the centre.

The President was given a tour of the centre that included seeing the President of CNEB and Archbishop of Burundi, the Most Revd Bernard Ntahoturi, undergoing an HIV test.

The CNEB churches in cooperation with other churches such as the Danish Baptist Church have, in addition, set up an interdenominational network to address the issues of HIV and AIDS.
