by Elizabeth Gichovi

June 15, 2005

[CAPA - Africa] The Rev. David Peck, the Archbishop of Canterbury's Secretary for International Development, paid CAPA a courtesy call on Monday 13th 2005. David was en-route from the Province of Burundi where he had made a preparatory visit ahead of a Provincial Visit by His Grace the Archbishop of Canterbury in July 2005.

He met with the CAPA General Secretary, Revd. Canon John L Kanyikwa, and discussed at length areas of common concern.

Canon Kanyikwa thanked the Office of the Archbishop of Canterbury for the practical help given to CAPA during the last few years. Bishops' Training, HIV/AIDS Programme and a Conference on Poverty Alleviation are some of the programmes that have benefited from this office. Revd. David Peck on his part hopes to assist church leaders, particularly in Africa as they seek to develop strategies and implement programmes related to health, education and poverty reduction.

We thank Revd. Peck and look forward to welcoming him back to CAPA for another visit.
