Anglican Bishop elected new chairman of National Council of Churches of Kenya

[CAPA - Kenya] Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Bungoma Diocese Bishop, The Rt Rev Dr Eliud Wabukala has been elected the new chairman of the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK).

Bishop Wabukala was elected during NCCK’s General Assembly held recently in Nairobi. He takes over from reknown Presbyterian clergyman Rev Dr Jesse Kamau.

In his congratulatory message to the Bishop, ACK Archbishop, The Most Rev Benjamin Nzimbi said the Church was proud of his election to the chairmanship of Kenya’s Christian churches' umbrella organization.

"We pray that the Almighty Lord will give you wisdom as you serve him in this important position", Archbishop Nzimbi said.

Before being ordained, Bishop Wabukala was a secondary school head teacher. He has also worked with the government of Kenya as an administrator. Recently, he was appointed by President Mwai Kibaki as a member of Kenya Anti-Corruption Advisory Board.
