[CAPA - Tanzania] The Anglican Church of Tanzania (ACT) has announced the relocation of its Provincial Health Officer, Dr Michael Burke to Australia.

Dr Burke, a medic, has served in the Province for the past five years and has been instrumental in setting up the health office.

Provincial Secretary, Dr Mwita Akiri, said Dr Burke had made a useful contribution, which will be greatly missed. “His work has led to the improvement of services in hospitals and dispensaries owned by ACT while working closely with the Bishops in the Church’s 19 dioceses,” he noted.m

Mr Baraka Chilongani who has been the accountant at the ACT Health Office will take up Dr Burke’s position. He will be assisted by Mrs Neema Peter who is currently serving as ACT HIV/AIDS coordinator.
