[Diocese of Antsiranana - Indian Ocean] The Anglican mission church in Ambondronmifehy sapphire village was especially exuberant on Sunday September 17.
As ladies prepared the chicken brought from their distant villages before the service began, others were digging for sapphire treasures in the vicinity of the village.
The baptism and confirmation service was held in the tiny church made of ravenal leaves. Bishop Roger Chung Jaomalaza rejoiced at the event, with the parish priest, the Rev Louis, and a special guest from PIOSA, UK, the Rev Oliver Simon.
Bishop Roger announced the enlargement of the church, which will also be used as a school. The name chosen for the mission church is St Simon of Cyrene. We pray that as Simon of Cyrene helped Jesus on the way of the Cross, likewise we will not be alone on this mission and education journey in northern Madagascar.
