[Diocese of Antsiranana - Indian Ocean] The first ever three women priests to be ordained to the priesthood took place in St Joseph 's Church in Nosy Be in the Diocese of Antsiranana in the Eklesia Episkopaly Malagasy in the Anglican Province of the Indian Ocean. During the inauguration service of the renovated Church in Nosy Be on Sunday 30th Nov 2008 , Revds Marie Jeanne Befeno, Vitasolo Roline and Nivondrazana were ordained to the priesthood by The Rt Rev Roger Chung Jaomalaza, Bishop of Antsiranana. Three other priests along with eight deacons including 3 women deacons were also ordained during this major event in the Diocese of Antsiranana. The three new women priests were made deacons last year on the 17th June 2007 at the inauguration of the New Cathedral of St Matthew in Diego Suarez . A delegation of women priests and other dignitaries from Canterbury Diocese led by Bishop Graham Cray attended this service . .Rev Nivondrazana also happen to be the wife of the new Archdeacon the Venerable Julien Ravelomanana. This time two fatted calves were slaughtered for this special event. The lunch was served in the Roman Catholic St Pierre et St Paul Church vast hall in Nosy Be , with the Father Jaochim giving us all a warm welcome.
The Diocese of Mauritius is the latest Diocese to accept woman ordination to the Diaconate and to the priesthood during its Synod last month.
Bishop Roger Chung Jaomalaza used the Jabez prayer in 1 chr 4: 9-10 as the focus theme for his ordination sermon.
" Enga anie hotahinao tokoa aho
ka hohalalahinao ny taniko,
ary aoka ny tananao homba ahy,
ka hataonao lavitra ahy ny loza mba tsy ho zoim-pahoriana aho!"
Dia nohenoin'Andriamanitra izay nangatahiny.

Praise the Lord for his faithfulness !!!
Alleluya ..Amen.
