The overflowing congregation for the farewell service on Sunday 30th March at the magnificent St Laurent Cathedral in Ambohimanoro Antananarivo expressed their gratefulness for his ministry and leadership. His wife Elisabeth has been a major support all the way and they have six grown up children.

The president of the Republic of Madagascar , His Excellency Marc Ravalomanana and the Prime Minister Charles Rabemananjara and other members of the government were present at this sending off for the Misotro Ronono stage . In Malagasy the term for retirement is the Drinking Milk stage !!! so it is back to the milking age so to say .

All the Bishops of Madagascar were present with Bishop Jean-Claude Mahajunga officiating, Bishop Jean Paul Toamasina Coordinating, Bishop Todd Tulear reading the Epistle, Bishop Roger Chung Jaomalaza Antsiranana reading the Gospel, and Bishop Gilbert Fianarantsoa preaching. The whole service was in Malagasy language. The St Laurent Cathedral Choir had a magnificent delivery of hymns and majestically performed the Halleluyah Chorus of Handel at the end of the service.
