Madagascar Bishops meet in Antananarivo after the devastating Cyclone Ivan causes 42 deaths and destroyed agricultural plantations

[Diocese of Antsiranana - Indian Ocean] The Bishops of Madagascar met in the Bishopscourt of Bishop Remi Rabenirina of Antananarivo Diocese at the invitation of Bishop Remi Rabenirina and his wife Elisabeth. The Bishops of All the Dioceses Tulear, Fianarantsoa, Toamasina, Fianarantsoa , Antsiranana and Antananarivo were present at this meeting. Cyclone Ivan happen to devastate the north eastern part of the island during the previous weekend. Until now we have the figure of 42 deaths for the toll of the cyclone and major ruined habitations on the path of the Cyclone. More information is being sought before requests are sent out to help us at this time of catastrophes.
Bishop Remi of Antananarivo is retiring on the 31st of March and preparations for the finding of a new Bishop will be initiated soon.
Urgent issues on Theological Education , and problems in Toamasina and Antsiranana Dioceses were taken care of. Pray for us at this transient times.
