[Diocese of Antsiranana - Indian Ocean] The Revd Rahova and his wife Zina celebrated their golden wedding jubilee during a recent confirmation service in the newly renovated Church of St Michael in the parish of Bemaneviky. They are retired and live in the rain forest village of Ambahatra, which is in that parish. This whole village celebrated with them, as the Revd Rahova had been the parish priest here for many years.
The Church of St Michael in Ambahatra was originally built near the river bed, which was always flooded during the wet season. The PCC therefore moved the church further up the slope, where it was protected from the rising flood waters.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of its foundation, St Michael's Church building was extended and a little porch and a vestry were added. Bishop Roger Chung Jaomalaza blessed the new additions and took the confirmation there during the Eucharist.
The parish priest, the Rev Theophile Botomazava, has also revitalised the congregation by building a new School of St Laurent in Bemaneviky.
