[Diocese of Antsiranana - Indian Ocean] The youths are today's bubbling sign of the Living Church. The Scouts and the Kilasimandry Hostel Boys and youth gathered at the newly inaugurated Immanuel training center in Antsiranana to celebrate the New Year 2007.
They also put aside some time to clean the grounds of the new Cathedral which has overgrown vegetation which happens during this heavy rain and cyclonic season. This new hall which was inaugurated in last September 2006 during the visit of the Revd Oliver Simon , Secretary of PIOSA , the Province of the Indian Ocean Support Association, has become a great blessing for the Diocese .Immanuel Hall in the Malagasy language is IMANOELA EFI TRANO which means ' Andriamanitra miaraka amintsika' that is God is with us.
The building of the New Cathedral of St Matthew of Antsiranana has reached the stage of the completion of the walls. The Diocese of Antsiranana is grateful to all the donators for the new Cathedral edification .The Diocese of Canterbury has also generously donated for the building of this long awaited Cathedral which almost got started during the episcopacy of the Late Rt Rev J K Benzies, but he sadly died due to a long illness... However we still need funds as the expected expenditure target has not been reached.
The projected inauguration of the new Cathedral is planned for mid June when a team from the Canterbury Diocese including Bishop Graham Cray of Maidstone and the Rev Colin Preece of Ashford will join the Celebration and also lead a Diocesan Training Week end for the Diocesan Clergy and clergy spouses. Pray that this project may find fulfilment and the people of Northern Madagascar encouraged to see 40 yrs old expected vision of the new Cathedral realised in Antsiranana.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 "God has made everything beautiful in its time."
