Brief history of Diocese:

The Diocese of Otukpo was created and inaugurated as a Missionary Diocese in 1996 with just 5 clergymen, to take care of a teeming flock, scattered over a wide area. The then bishop embarked on a local training programme from available resources to make priests, so the number rose to 25 just in 2 years. Many out posts for congregational worship have been established, but the resources are very lean, so these congregations are completely dependent on the Cathedral for sustenance and growth.

Any previous or existing Links:

None (except for Provincial links)

Reason for wanting a Link:

  1. We need partnership, in support and strengthening of Mission between dioceses.
  2. We want to engage in sharing of prayers, insight, resources and Missions.
  3. We want to strengthen relationships in the Anglican Communion between churches through cultures and traditions.

What expectations you have of the Link?

  • Links with older dioceses will help us grow.
  • Establishment of youth, women and clergy exchange programmes.
  • Sharing in manpower development.
  • Mission team exchange programme
  • Attraction of foreign investors.

What part of the world you would like your Link to be?

Europe , South Africa and South East Asia .

Describe the style and patterns of church life and ministry in your diocese.

  • Our administration is Episcopal, but has a large room for participation and inputs by all laity and clergy via the Diocesan Synod.
  • Our Diocese is largely rural and there is a lot of room for evangelism.
  • The ministry includes teaching social services and evangelism.

Would you like your Link diocese to reflect or contrast with the pattern described above?

For now the link dioceses should contrast this our existing pattern.
