Brief history of Diocese:

The Diocese of Maseno West was created in 1985 after the subdivision of the Diocese of Maseno South. It grew to a point of a further subdivision to create the Diocese of Bondo in 1999. The Diocese had been very active in advocacy on behalf of the vulnerable, active in revival, renewal and in cross Cultural Mission in partnership with the Diocese of Nitall in Turkana. Also in empowerment and facilitation of life in all life fullness.

Any previous or existing Links:

No formal Diocesan links but have had links with parishes in the Diocese of Massachusetts, Dallas, Los Angeles and Milwaukee.
In the USA. Mother Union had link with the Diocese of Manchester in England.

Reason for wanting a Link:

Our Diocese strategic plan 2003- 2007 with four focus areas, namely:

  1. Mission and Evangelism
  2. Pastoral Care and Disciples
  3. Stewardship and investment
  4. Empowerment and Training lists Partnership with mission Agencies, Ecumenical organisations and other Dioceses as a strategic activity to help us achieve our goal of following Jesus and transforming our Society.

What expectations you have of the Link?

The links will expose our Diocese to the rest of the Body of Christ. We will be able to share our gifts and talents and strengthen our weak areas through interaction with others.

What part of the world you would like your Link to be?

We would like link in West Africa, Asia, UK and USA.

Describe the style and patterns of church life and ministry in your diocese.

We are a rural Diocese with very strong lay leadership, 65% of lay reader and evangelist are women, 60% of the Standing Committee are women and 50% of elected synod representatives are women. We are an Evangelical Diocese with very strong involvement in social services we plant an average of ten new churches every year, we confirm about 2400 people every year, we sponsor 30 high schools and 132 primary schools.

Would you like your Link diocese to reflect or contrast with the pattern described above?

We would link with a Diocese which would like to heard from us and strengthen our Mission.
