Companion Diocesan Links have been a means of developing relationships and mutual partnership in mission throughout the dioceses and parishes of the Anglican Communion for many years. The Diocese of Makurdi - The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) is seeking a new link and has given information on the diocese below. If your diocese is interested in forming a link with them please respond directly to the Bishop.

Brief history of Diocese:
The Diocese of Makurdi was carved out of Jos Diocese. It was inaugurated as one of the 8 missionary Dioceses created in The Northern past of Nigeria at the beginning of the Decade of Evangelism. The Diocese started with only 31 Churches and 5 workers including the Bishop. Now Makurdi Diocese has grown from 31 churches to over 200 Churches spread over Benue State. The number of the workers have increased to 50 to 40 clergy and 10 lay-workers. Mission and Evangelism is our top-most priority

Reason for wanting a Link:
The main purpose for our link is for prayer, fellows Sharing of Ministry experience including of visit and exchange of Parish visits.
What expectations you have of the Link?
I expect in our link a kind of fellowship that will grow naturally strong between the two areas- Such that will encourage the parishes to grow in understanding of the parishes in one locality and also develop interest in their lives and spiritual developments.
What part of the world you would like your Link to be?
We have one already in UK. Another link has been developed recently
during one “All African Anglican conference held in Nigeria” AABC-
Makurdi Diocese – Nigeria and Kindu Diocese-Congo need another link in Bible- believing congregation in US.
Describe the style and patterns of church life and ministry in your diocese.
The style and pattern of Church, life in my Diocese can be described as a Church based on the scripture the word of God. It is a vibrant Church with various groups of Scouts, women and men working actively in all Church activities. The Diocese and Church is full of activities such as Revival, Seminars and Retreat organised by the church Groups/Diocese.
Would you like your Link diocese to reflect or contrast with the pattern described above?
I want my link to reflect the life and the pattern in our Diocese. Our Diocese is also involved in development work and a Diocese in such area will real match us.
