A Biblical Reflection

Much has been written about the immense faith of Martha and Mary, both of whom truly believed that her brother would not have passed away had our Lord been present with them, and of our Lord’s declaration to Martha that “I am the resurrection and the live; he who believes in my, though he die, yet shall he live, and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die.”

The Archbishop of Canterbury Second Presidential Address to the Lambeth Conference 2008

‘What is Lambeth ’08 going to say?’ is the question looming larger all the time as this final week unfolds. But before trying out any thoughts on that, I want to touch on the prior question, a question that could be expressed as ‘Where is Lambeth ’08 going to speak from?’. I believe if we can answer that adequately, we shall have laid some firm foundations for whatever content there will be.

An Interview with the Director of the Anglican Centre in Rome

Some in the Anglican Communion may have found themselves a little irritated by the amount of rhetoric that has issued from the Vatican in recent weeks on the divisions facing the church. The Anglican Representative of the Archbishop of Canterbury in the Holy See, the Very Revd David Richardson, says that instead, the concerns of the Roman Catholic Church should be taken as a very positive reminder that the unity of the church is God’s will.

Plenary Monday 28th July

Friends -- this is for me a profoundly moving moment.  You we have invited me, a Jew, to join your deliberations, and I thank you for that, and for all it implies.  There is a lot of history between our faiths, and for me to stand here, counting as I do the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Archbishop of York as beloved colleagues, is a signal of hope for our children and the world they will inherit.
