More than 30 bishops from around the Anglican Communion joined the Archbishop of Wales and the Archbishop of Canterbury to consecrate two new Welsh bishops at Llandaff Cathedral on Saturday afternoon (April 4). Gregory Cameron, 49, was consecrated 76th Bishop of St Asaph.

The Bishops of the Church in Wales, along with the bishop-elect of Monmouth, today submitted a statement to the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Select Committee, in which they argue that the justifications suggested so far by the US and UK administrations in support of war against Iraq remain 'far from convincing'. A copy has also been sent to Prime Minister, Tony Blair, ahead of his meeting with US President, George Bush, on Friday.

Wales: Women Ordained Priest last weekend

Ordinations of the first women priests in the Church in Wales took place last weekend. Services took place in the Cathedrals of St Asaph, Bangor, St David's, Monmouth and Llandaff on Saturday 11 January, and in St Asaph's (a second service) again and Brecon on 12 January. A total of 64 women were ordained priests over the weekend with more ordinations later in the month.
