In accordance with Our Lord's high priestly prayer that we be one, and in the spirit of Resolution A159 of the 75th General Convention, and in obedience to his Great Commission to go into the world and make disciples, and in gratitude for the gift of the Anglican Communion as a sign of the Holy Spirit's ongoing work of reconciliation throughout the world, we offer the following to The Episcopal Church, the Primates, the Anglican Consultative Council (ACC), and the larger Communion, with the hope of "mending the tear in the fabric" of our common life in Christ.

Episcopal Cathedral leads Nation in prayers for Virginia Tech victims

ECUSA Bishops request meeting with Archbishop of Canterbury, Primates' Standing Committee

Responding to the recent Anglican Primates' Communiqué, the Episcopal Church's House of Bishops, meeting March 20 in Navasota, Texas, expressed “an urgent need for us to meet face to face with the Archbishop of Canterbury and the members of the Primates' Standing Committee.” The request came as the second of three “mind of the house” resolutions adopted by the bishops on March 20. The resolutions were debated during the business session scheduled during the House of Bishops' annual spring retreat meeting.

California bishop arrested during San Francisco war protest

Bishop Marc Handley Andrus of the Episcopal Diocese of California was arrested December 7 for blocking the front door of the San Francisco federal building to protest the deaths caused by the Iraq war. ECUSA 26th Presiding Bishop elected by House of Bishops

Katharine Jefferts Schori, Bishop of the Diocese of Nevada, was elected the 26th Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, June 18, on the fifth ballot cast by the House of Bishops. Her election was confirmed by the House of Deputies, as is required by church canons. She is the first woman to hold the top post in the church's nearly 400-year history. Her nine-year term officially begins November 1st 2006; she will be invested and seated November 4th during a liturgy at Washington National Cathedral.
