The Bishop of London (the Rt Revd Richard Chartres) assisted and the Bishop of Birmingham (the Rt Revd John Sentamu) preached a powerful sermon. About 30 Anglican bishops (England, Canada, Uruguay, Nigeria, USA) were also present for the laying on of hands, with two bishops from the Old Catholic Church.

Bishop Hamid was presented by Bishop Geoffrey Rowell of Europe.

Many were on hand from the Diocese in Europe including the Dean of Gibraltar.

The Bishop of Southwark gave a special tribute to Archbishop Carey at the close of the liturgy.
