Work begins for Anglican Primates' Meetings

Press Release - Number 1

Kanuga Episcopal Conference Center, USA

[ACNS, Flat Rock, NC] Prior to the arrival of the Primates of the Anglican Communion, the Inter Anglican Finance Committee headed by the Most Revd Robin Eames, Primate of Ireland and the Standing Committees of the Primates and the Anglican Consultative Council (ACC) will have met at Kanuga.

The Primates Standing Committee is the group responsible for the programme of the actual Primates Meeting being held 2 - 9 March. The retreat-meeting is private.

On Sunday, February 25, several members of these committees attended the local Episcopal Church at Flat Rock, North Carolina for their early morning service of Holy Communion. Among those present were the Primates of Nigeria and Ireland. Archbishop Robin Eames gave the blessing at the service and presented the Rector, Father John Morton, with a commemorative plaque of the Compass Rose, the symbol of the Anglican Communion.

Photos of that service are available on our web site at: www.anglicancommunion.org in the photo file section.

Those present will observe Ash Wednesday with a Solemn Eucharist with Imposition of Ashes in the Chapel of Transfiguration with Bishop Simon Chiwanga, Chairman of the ACC, presiding.

Music for all the services being conducted in the next several days will be led by Beverly Ward, organist/choirmaster of St Mary's Episcopal Church, Asheville, North Carolina.
