Nagasaki Day

The Bishop of Nagasaki invites all Anglicans to join in the prayer to commemorate the victims of nuclear weapon

An Atomic bomb assaulted Nagasaki on August 9, 1945 at 11:02. Innumerable people were killed and severely injured and are still suffered with its aftereffect either physically or psychologically. The Right Rev. Gabriel S. Igarashi, the Bishop of the Diocese of Kyushu, invites all Anglicans to join in the Memorial Service which will be held in Holy Trinity Church in Nagasaki at 10:30 on August 9, 2000 in which he will preach. After the service, two survivors of the bomb, Ms. Yoneko Takahashi and Ms. Kazuko Ota will give testimonies of the traumatic experiences. He would request you to pray: for peace of the soul of the dead; for our Lord may give strength to the survivors who still suffer, especially expatriates in Japan and overseas; and for by the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, the peace of the world may come true without wars and any kind of violence.

Mr. Yoshiki Yamada, a member of Holy Trinity will be responsible for further inquiry. Phone +81 95 846 7777
