The Bishop, the Chef and the Fisherman

This is the title of a new Anglican Media Sydney TV programme. The first of twenty episodes will go to air for the first time on the 7Network throughout Australia on Sunday 26 May at 6.30am.

Filmed on location in Israel the series has some captivating captions and catching features. It's a fishing and cooking programme largely aimed at an audience of men. The series travels to significant biblical sites around Israel and Greece.

Dave Milson is our fisherman. He runs his own charter business in Cairns, Queensland, and has worked on the well-known Australian show Rex Hunt's Fishing Show . He will explain a variety of fishing techniques, such as fly fishing in the Jordan; line and net fishing in the lake of Galilee; salt water fishing at Caesarea and Corinth; and, deep sea fishing at Tel Aviv.

Simon Holt then cooks what's caught and offers other recipes. Simon was a professional chef, though he now teaches at the Macquarie Institute for Christian Studies in Sydney. Simon wrote a Master's thesis 'Jesus around the meal table.' Simon cooked for the show on location.

Bishop Paul Barnett, the Bishop of North Sydney will spend most of his time fishing with David. As he waits for the right bite he draws the audience's attention to local biblical sites, then explains the biblical site and its relevance to life and teaching of Jesus.

Filming for the series is completed and the Anglican Media staff who went on location report that the only problem with the bishop was that he caught the most fish!

Anglican Media Sydney already has a 40 part series in its second year on the 9Network in Australia. This programme, WorldView, is a Christian current affairs programme, the only one of its kind appearing annually in Australia.

Popular Anglican Media Sydney TV programmes are put onto video and sold in Sydney as ministry resources for use with parish and church groups.
