Sectarian Bloodshed in Nigeria

News has reached the Anglican Communion Office that the Bishop of Kaduna, where fierce fighting has erupted between Muslims and Christians, is literally confined to his home with his family and six other bishops. The bishops were on their way to a synod to elect a new primate.

Bishop Josiah Fearon of Kaduna Diocese has reported over a dozen deaths from his parish, fire-gutted churches and great fear in the city as martial law prevails. A mosque has also been burned.

The Compass Rose Society of the Anglican Communion visited Kaduna just about one year ago.

Pray for the people of Nigeria.
