(CT) The Archbishop of Papua New Guinea the Most Revd James Ayong, thanks all who have given to the PNG Church Partnership drought appeal which has so far realised more than £10,000 from the UK, with further support from Australia. Peter Rookes, National Health Secretary of the Church in PNG, said last week that he had already made one delivery of food, vitamins and rehydration salts to 15,000 people in scattered areas; a second was in process. Disease, and illness caused by resorting to sub-standard water and food, were problems. "The longer the drought lasts, the more people fall into the category of not having any root vegetables, which are the staple diet."
