It's only from the hopeful power that scriptures gives us that we are able to continue. Micah's words in chapter 7 verse 8, "when I fall, I shall rise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me" are words that remind us that we must continue and that there is hope.
I am writing to request your help in making an appeal to all believers, Anglican and otherwise, in the United Kingdom including our Cursillistas sisters and brothers. I am asking 3 kinds of help:
Make a financial contribution Even if our country is small our needs are huge and we need lots of help. Our church is working hard to reconstruct the country while feeding and caring for the homeless, those in pain. Our ministry reaches where sometimes the other city agencies are unable to go.
To assure that contributions reach us directly and in order to get a tax break also in the United Kingdom please send contributions to: Amos trust, All Hallows on the Wall, 83 London Wall, London EC2M 5ND Please mark your cheques for Honduran Relief The Rev. Garth Hewith is a dear friend that has visited Honduras and helped our ministry in the past through the Amos Trust.
Help us to free our chains Our church, people and government are asking to have our debt forgiven based on biblical teachings and common sense. Actually we are paying 33% of every dollar to service the foreign debt. We are proposing using that money for developing and reconstruction given preference to education and medical issues if our debt be condoned. We are in chains and the time for jubilee is now. Write your MP and show support for our request. The Honduran ambassador to your country is a dear friend of mine and has helped the Anglican Church many times in the past. Please pray for him and for those who are trying to free our people. For the first time we have a government that is honest, democratic and visionary and we need help.
