Episcopal Appointments

New Bishops Appointed to fill Vacant Sees

The Episcopal Church of Rwanda has elected bishops to fill its vacant sees. Bishop Ken Barham, Assistant Bishop of the Diocese of Cyangugu writes: "The province has struggled for two years to sort out its leadership. But has now made a big move forward. Each of the four dioceses declared vacant at the ACC meeting in Panama last October called a diocesan synod, recorded the vacancy and elected two candidates for bishop. On 3 April the Electoral College elected one of each of those. Three of the four will be consecrated by the Bishops in May or June. (Names and dioceses follow). For Cyangugu, I was elected unanimously as Diocesan Bishop and will be enthroned on 1 June in Cyangugu Cathedral. On 27 April, Bishop Venuste will be enthroned in Butare Cathedral On 25 May Bishop Alexis Bilindabagabo will be enthroned in a new Diocese of Umutra in the east of Rwanda."
