The Rt Revd Ignacio Capuyan Soliba, Bishop of Northern Luzon, has been chosen as third Prime Bishop of the Episcopal Church in the Philippines at the Church's June Synod. He will be installed early next year upon the retirement of the Most Revd Narcisco Ticobay.
Bishop Soliba, aged 52, has been Bishop of Northern Luzon since 1991. He has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of the Philippines and a Master of Divinity from St Andrew's Theological Seminary. After ordination in 1974 he served as a school chaplain in Balbalasang and became priest in charge of Balbalasang in 1975. He went on to serve as Vicar of Balantey and then Mount Data becoming Rural Dean of Richardson in Griffitts Deanery in 1983.
