At their recent meeting in Bishop Woodford House, Ely, UK, the Joint Standing Committees of the Primates of the Anglican Communion and the Anglican Consultative Council (ACC) have announced the theme for the next international ACC gathering.
BEING ANGLICANS IN THE THIRD MILLENNIUM will be the theme of the October 1996 meeting to be held in the Diocese of Panama. The ACC meetings include Archbishops, Bishops, Priests and Laity participating together in consultation on issues facing the Anglican Church world-wide. Elected representatives come from every Province of the Communion.
The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Revd George L. Carey, is President of the ACC. The Revd Canon Colin Craston of England is the ACC Chairman and the Rt Revd Simon Chiwanga of Mpwapwa, Tanzania, is the Vice-Chairman. The Secretary General of the Anglican Communion is the Revd Canon John L. Peterson with the Secretariat based in London.
