New Primate Elected for the Anglican Church of Korea

The Most Revd Bundo Kim OSB, Bishop of Pusan, has been elected Primate of the Anglican Church of Korea for the next two years. He succeeds the Most Revd Simon Kim who has retired.

The new Primate has spent the whole of his ministry, except for four years with the Order of St Benedict in the USA, in the Diocese of Pusan. After preparation for ordination at St Michael's Seminary in Seoul, he went to Pusan City in 1960, to serve as a catechist. He was ordained deacon in 1962 and priest in 1963. From 1970 to 1974 he was in the USA with the OSB. He then returned to Korea and became Rector of four parishes in Pusan City and one in Ulsan. While in Ulsan he developed a new parish in the new steel-making town of Pohang.

He was consecrated and enthroned Bishop of Pusan in 1988. During his episcopate there has been considerable growth in the diocese and six new centres have been developed.
